The focus of this 90-minute workshop is to bring grandparents and their grandchildren together to experience the joy of sharing and writing stories about growing up. Children and their grandparents will learn ways to call up significant memories, methods for getting writing started, and easy and practical techniques for helping each other as writers. We’ll also discuss some ideas for sharing this writing and continuing family writing at home.
The Writing Across Generations Workshop includes the following activities:
- Reading and conversation
- Visual representations
- Sharing with others
- Choosing something to write about in any chosen genre
- Sharing some possibilities for genre exploration
- Writing for 20 minutes—separately or with another family member
